Zara Larsson Dreams of Making Coachella Her Biggest Stage Yet
‘Lush Life’ singer says she wants to earn headline status with a spectacular show
Swedish pop star says she wants to earn a headline slot with a performance big enough to make fans demand it
Swedish pop star Zara Larsson has revealed that she dreams of one day headlining Coachella, saying she wants to deliver a performance so spectacular that fans will feel she has truly earned the festival’s coveted top billing.
The “Lush Life” singer, who enjoyed a major breakthrough in the United States last year with her hit single “Midnight Sun,” has attended Coachella for several years and considers the renowned California festival a major source of inspiration.
However, Larsson admits she does not believe she is quite ready to headline the event just yet. Speaking to Billboard, she said her immediate goal is to perform at the festival before eventually working her way toward the main-stage headline position.
“I’m not quite there yet, but I definitely want to perform,” Larsson said. She added that when the opportunity to headline eventually arrives, she wants the show to be “mega and big and amazing” enough for audiences to feel that she deserves the top spot.
Larsson has already been building her reputation as a major live performer. She recently took the stage at Lollapalooza in Chicago, where a video of her inviting a fan onto the stage to perform the choreographed routine from “Lush Life” went viral.
The singer said moments like that are an important part of her live shows, as she wants audiences to feel connected regardless of where they are watching her perform.
“I really want people, wherever they are, in whatever festival or country, to have that experience and to be together to create special memories,” Larsson said.
She explained that every performance feels different because each audience contributes something unique to the atmosphere.
“It’s something that can’t be planned. And it’s something that the fans bring,” she said, stressing that creating those memorable moments is not something she can accomplish alone from the stage.
Larsson has maintained a busy festival schedule this year, performing at a number of major events. Her recent appearances include the All Things Go Music Festival on the U.S. East Coast in late September and London’s All Points East festival during the summer.
With a growing international fan base and an expanding list of major festival appearances, Larsson is continuing to build the live-performance profile she hopes will eventually lead her to the Coachella headline stage.
