IRGC warns enemies: Any attack on Iran will bring ‘painful’ response

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards mark second anniversary of Operation True Promise 2

TEHRAN: Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has warned that any threat, aggression or hostile action against the country would trigger a “decisive, immediate, painful and regret-inducing” response, as it marked the second anniversary of Operation True Promise 2.

In a statement issued Friday, the IRGC described the October 1, 2024 missile operation as a landmark retaliatory strike that demonstrated Iran’s military capabilities and challenged what it called Israel’s “hollow hegemony.”

The IRGC Aerospace Force launched Operation True Promise 2 on October 1, 2024, firing waves of missiles and drones toward targets in the occupied territories. Tehran said the operation was carried out in response to the assassinations of senior figures of the Resistance Front, including Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and IRGC Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan.

According to the IRGC, the operation demonstrated Iran’s ability to strike targets deep inside the occupied territories with precision-guided weapons.

“True Promise 2 was not only a harsh punishment in response to the enemy’s aggressions and crimes amid the deadly silence of international bodies, but also a clear message to the enemies of the great and dignified Iranian nation,” the statement said.

The IRGC said the operation had made clear that “the era of cost-free threats has come to an end” and warned that any aggression would be followed by a response.

The force also said the operation showcased the capabilities of Iran’s missile forces to Israel and its supporters, including the United States.

The statement paid tribute to members of the Resistance Front and Iranian forces killed in previous conflicts, while highlighting what it described as the military achievements of Iran’s armed forces during subsequent confrontations with the United States and Israel.

The IRGC claimed that the military capabilities displayed by Iran, together with those of the country’s other armed forces, contributed to forcing Washington and Israel to seek ceasefire arrangements during what it described as the second and third US-Israeli imposed wars.

The force reaffirmed that it remained prepared to respond to any future threat or hostile action against Iran and pledged continued support for countries and groups aligned with the Resistance Front.

In its concluding warning, the IRGC said it remained “with its finger on the trigger” and was prepared to deliver a response it described as “more deadly than Operation True Promise 2” in the event of any threat, aggression, hostile action or miscalculation by the United States and its regional allies.

The statement comes amid heightened tensions between Iran, Israel and the United States, with Tehran repeatedly warning that any attack on Iranian territory could trigger a wider regional confrontation.
