Strongly condemns ongoing human rights violations in IIOJK, declaring that Kashmir remains jugular vein of Pakistan
The military’s top brass on Monday expressed a resolute commitment to undertake all necessary measures to ensure the availability of Pakistan’s “rightful share of water” amid tensions with India over the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT).
RAWALPINDI: Field Marshal Asim Munir on Monday chaired the 276th Corps Commanders Conference (CCC) at the General Headquarters (GHQ), where Pakistan’s senior military leadership reviewed the country’s security environment and reaffirmed its commitment to counterterrorism and national defence.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the conference began with Fateha for the martyrs of the armed forces, law enforcement agencies and civilians, paying tribute to their sacrifices for Pakistan’s security, unity and resilience. The forum also expressed satisfaction with the operational preparedness, professionalism and combat readiness of the armed forces.
The military leadership voiced concern over what it described as the continued use of Afghan territory by Indian-backed militant groups, including Fitna al Khawarij (FAK) and Fitna al Hindustan (FAH), to launch attacks inside Pakistan. The forum stated that lasting regional peace requires preventing militant groups from using Afghan territory and said the Afghan authorities bear responsibility for ensuring such activities do not take place.
The conference reiterated Pakistan’s right to defend its citizens against terrorism, emphasizing that intelligence-based operations under Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq would continue against militant threats.
Beyond military operations, participants stressed the need to strengthen governance in affected areas through improved public services and welfare initiatives while dismantling what they described as links between terrorism, crime and political patronage.
The forum noted that, following what it termed the comprehensive success of Marka-e-Haq, hostile actors had increasingly shifted toward hybrid warfare and disinformation campaigns. It condemned all forms of state support for proxy groups and pledged a firm response to any attempt to destabilize Pakistan.
Reviewing regional developments, the conference appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting dialogue, de-escalation and regional stability. It reaffirmed the country’s commitment to peaceful conflict resolution, adherence to international law and enhanced regional cooperation.
The military leadership also reviewed recent developments concerning the Indus Waters Treaty and reaffirmed the National Security Committee’s directive issued on April 24, 2025. The forum pledged to take all necessary measures to safeguard Pakistan’s water rights in accordance with government policy.
The conference further condemned alleged human rights violations and demographic changes in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Reiterating Pakistan’s longstanding position, the forum reaffirmed diplomatic, political and moral support for the Kashmiri people and called for their right to self-determination in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions.
Concluding the meeting, Field Marshal Asim Munir directed commanders to accelerate implementation of the military’s multi-domain transformation plan to address the evolving nature of warfare. He also instructed commanders to maintain the highest standards of vigilance, operational readiness and professionalism to counter conventional, sub-conventional and hybrid threats while safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and national interests.
