Iran rejects ceasefire as deadline nears on Trump ‘hell’ ultimatum

Propose 10-point plan to end regional conflicts, provide safe Strait of Hormuz passage, and lift sanctions

Iran has formally responded to a US-backed proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, conveying its position through Pakistan, according to state-run IRNA news agency. Tehran rejected the idea of a temporary ceasefire, stressing instead the need for a permanent end to the war.

The United States and Iran have been considering a framework to resolve their five-week-long conflict. However, Iran pushed back against pressure to quickly reopen the Strait of Hormuz under a short-term truce, insisting that any agreement must ensure a lasting resolution.

Iran’s response reportedly includes 10 key points, such as ending regional conflicts, ensuring secure navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, lifting sanctions, and initiating reconstruction efforts.

US President Donald Trump warned that Iran would face severe consequences if it failed to agree to a deal by Tuesday evening, including reopening the vital energy route.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that Tehran had already communicated its شروط through intermediaries and rejected earlier US proposals, including a 15-point plan, calling them excessive. He emphasized that Iran’s demands reflect its national interests and should not be seen as compromise.

Meanwhile, a senior Iranian official reiterated that the country would not reopen the Strait under a temporary ceasefire or accept deadlines imposed by Washington, adding that the US had not shown willingness for a permanent truce.

A ceasefire plan reportedly facilitated by Pakistan suggests an immediate halt in fighting, followed by negotiations toward a broader peace agreement within 15 to 20 days. Pakistan’s military leadership is said to have held extensive overnight discussions with US and Iranian officials.

The White House described the proposal as one of several options still under consideration, noting that no final decision has been made. Oil prices showed slight movement as markets reacted to the possibility of a ceasefire.

Tensions remain high, with continued military strikes across the region. Israel has threatened to intensify its campaign against Iran, targeting infrastructure and leadership, while Iran reported attacks on its petrochemical facilities.

The conflict has caused significant casualties and economic disruption, particularly due to rising oil prices. Russia warned that the situation is rapidly escalating, describing the Middle East as “on fire” and highlighting the growing global economic impact.

Despite heavy losses, Iran has continued retaliatory strikes across the region. Thousands have been killed in the conflict, including civilians, while violence has also spread to neighboring countries, further intensifying the crisis.
