Pakistan, Qatar Review Security Cooperation, Discuss Regional Stability
Pakistan Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Qatar’s Interior Minister Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad discussed expanding security cooperation as Islamabad and Doha push for regional de-escalation.
DOHA: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Qatar’s Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad, in Doha on Monday to review bilateral security cooperation and explore ways to strengthen collaboration amid growing regional tensions.
According to a statement issued by Qatar’s Ministry of Interior, Sheikh Khalifa received Naqvi at the ministry’s headquarters, where both leaders discussed existing cooperation in the security sector and agreed to enhance coordination between the two countries.
The statement said the meeting focused on expanding bilateral security ties while also providing an opportunity to exchange views on several issues of mutual interest.
Focus on Strengthening Bilateral Security Ties
Pakistan and Qatar have maintained close cooperation in security, law enforcement and regional coordination over the years. During the meeting, both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to further developing these partnerships to address shared security challenges.
The discussions also reflected the growing importance of coordination between the two countries as regional geopolitical developments continue to evolve.

The high-level meeting took place against the backdrop of escalating tensions in the Middle East following the ongoing confrontation between the United States and Iran.
Over the past 10 days, the United States has intensified strikes targeting Iranian infrastructure, while Iran has responded with attacks on US military bases across the region, raising fears of a wider conflict.
In response to the deteriorating security situation, Pakistan and Qatar have stepped up diplomatic efforts aimed at encouraging dialogue and reducing tensions across the region.
Pakistan and Qatar Push for US-Iran De-escalation
Diplomatic sources say Islamabad and Doha have increased the exchange of messages between Washington and Tehran after both sides communicated their responses to a jointly proposed framework designed to help end months of hostilities.
Earlier this week, Pakistan and Qatar jointly proposed a de-escalation formula urging both the United States and Iran to return to their pre-July 9 military positions as an initial confidence-building measure before resuming stalled negotiations.
According to an official familiar with the discussions, the proposal was prepared after consultations with regional partners and seeks to create conditions for renewed diplomatic engagement aimed at achieving a lasting resolution to the conflict.
