Yemen Escalates Attacks, Claims Strikes on Aramco and Khamis Mushait Base
Yemeni forces claim extensive fires and widespread destruction at Yanbu Aramco facility
TEHRAN: Yemen’s armed forces on Wednesday claimed to have carried out two attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, including a drone and ballistic missile strike on an Aramco facility in Yanbu and a ballistic missile attack on Khamis Mushait air base.
Yemeni armed forces spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree said in a statement that the first operation targeted an Aramco facility in Yanbu with dozens of ballistic missiles and drones.
According to the statement, the attack caused extensive fires and widespread damage at the facility.
Saree said the second operation targeted Khamis Mushait air base with several ballistic missiles, which he claimed achieved direct hits.
The Yemeni armed forces vowed to continue what they described as military operations deep inside Saudi territory, saying attacks would continue against Saudi forces and allied fighters until the military campaign against Yemen ends and what they called the “siege” of the country is lifted.
“We will defend our country and people,” the statement said, adding that Saudi Arabia would be taught what it described as “lessons it will never forget.”
The Yemeni statement further claimed that Saudi Arabia had conducted more than 450 airstrikes across Yemen during the week, with most of the attacks targeting various Yemeni provinces.
The claims could not immediately be independently verified.
