Trump Eyes Islamabad Visit, Calls Pakistan Leadership “Impressive”

Washington, D.C. : U.S President Donald Trump said on Thursday that the next round of negotiations between the United States and Iran aimed at securing a peace agreement is likely to take place over the weekend.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump expressed optimism about the talks, stating that both sides are “close” to reaching a deal after weeks of heightened tensions.

The US president also indicated that he may travel to Islamabad if the agreement is finalized there. He praised Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir for their roles in facilitating mediation efforts.

“Pakistan has been so great. I might go if the deal is done in Islamabad,” Trump said, commending both leaders for their contributions.

Trump further claimed that Iran has agreed to hand over its stockpile of enriched uranium—referred to by him as “nuclear dust”—which the US believes could potentially be used in the development of nuclear weapons.

“There’s a very good chance we’re going to make a deal,” he added, while cautioning that hostilities could resume if negotiations fail. However, he noted that Iran appears more willing to compromise than before.

In addition to the Iran talks, Trump addressed developments in the Middle East, expressing confidence that a ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel could be reached soon, potentially involving Hezbollah.

He also revealed that leaders from Lebanon and Israel may meet at the White House in the coming weeks—an event he described as a significant breakthrough, marking the first such meeting in over four decades.

“We’re going to have a meeting… Lebanon will be meeting with Israel,” Trump said. “And they’re probably going to do it at the White House.”
