Dar, Canadian counterpart discuss regional security, Makkah defence pact

ISLAMABAD: (News Pulse)  Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Sunday held a telephone conversation with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand, during which the two sides exchanged views on regional and international developments.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two foreign ministers discussed the regional situation, including the recently signed Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.

During the conversation, Ishaq Dar briefed his Canadian counterpart on the key aspects of the agreement and highlighted the joint resolve of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye to contribute towards regional peace, stability and security.

The two sides also discussed the evolving situation in the context of the United States and Iran, with an exchange of views on developments in the region.

Dar also raised the situation in Occupied East Jerusalem, including the Ministerial Meeting on Jerusalem recently held in Jordan.

The deputy prime minister appreciated his frequent engagement with the Canadian foreign minister and thanked Anita Anand for her recent visit to Pakistan.

Both sides agreed to maintain close contact and remain engaged on matters of mutual interest.
