Pakistan, Libya discuss regional security, defence cooperation
The meeting focuses on matters of mutual interest, particularly regional security dynamics
Field Marshal Khalifa Abu-al-Qasim Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, and Libyan Prime Minister Dr Osama Saad Hammad met Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ) on Monday, according to the military’s media wing.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said discussions centered on issues of mutual interest, with a focus on regional security and prospects for defence and professional cooperation between Pakistan and Libya.
Both sides stressed the need to enhance continued engagement and collaboration between the armed forces of the two nations.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir welcomed the Libyan delegation and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties with Libya. He also reiterated Pakistan’s support for peace, stability, and institutional development in Libya.
The ISPR noted that the meeting took place in a warm and constructive environment, highlighting the longstanding friendly relations between the two countries.
Earlier, upon his arrival at Noor Khan Airbase, Field Marshal Haftar was received by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. The Libyan military chief also paid tribute to the martyrs by laying a wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada at GHQ.
