Iran to Trump, ‘Dream On’ About Sending US Warships into Persian Gulf

Tehran vows to bar American naval vessels, challenges Washington’s claims of crippling Iran’s military capabilities.

TEHRAN: Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Ali Abdollahi has declared that Iran will never allow US military vessels to enter the Persian Gulf, asserting that American forces can no longer approach the country’s territorial waters.

According to Iranian media reports, Major General Abdollahi said the US military had suffered successive setbacks in West Asia and claimed that Iran’s armed forces had undermined the effectiveness of the US Navy, which Washington has long relied upon as a symbol of its military power and regional influence.

“The US president should only dream of his military personnel and armed forces entering the Persian Gulf again,” Abdollahi said, warning that Iran would never permit American military vessels to enter the strategic waterway.

The senior Iranian commander also challenged US claims that American military operations had significantly weakened or destroyed Iran’s defence capabilities. He questioned why US forces and naval vessels had not approached the Strait of Hormuz or Iran’s maritime and land borders if Washington was confident that Tehran’s military strength had been eliminated.

Abdollahi described American warships as “rusty” and criticised US military personnel, arguing that their alleged reluctance to approach Iran’s borders contradicted Washington’s claims about the success of its military operations.

He further said that Iran’s leadership, people, armed forces and government officials remained determined to resist the United States and Israel, which Tehran refers to as the “Zionist regime.”

The commander maintained that Washington and its allies would face mounting difficulties as a result of what he described as their own aggressive policies in the region.

His remarks underscore Tehran’s continued defiance of US military pressure and its insistence on maintaining control over access to waters near its territory.

The Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz remain strategically significant waterways for international shipping and global energy supplies, making any confrontation involving Iranian and US forces a matter of regional and international concern.
