Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, held a significant telephonic conversation today with Sergey Lavrov, the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation. The high-level interaction reflects the continued commitment of both countries to strengthen bilateral ties and coordinate on key international issues.

According to Foreign Office ,During the discussion, both leaders reviewed the current state of Pakistan–Russia relations, emphasizing the importance of expanding cooperation in various sectors, including diplomacy, trade, and regional stability. They also exchanged views on collaboration at multilateral platforms, particularly in efforts aimed at promoting international peace and security amid evolving global challenges.

A key highlight of the conversation was Russia’s acknowledgment of Pakistan’s diplomatic role in facilitating dialogue between Iran and the United States. Foreign Minister Lavrov appreciated Pakistan’s constructive and balanced approach in encouraging dialogue between the two countries, which have historically experienced tensions. This recognition underscores Pakistan’s growing role as a mediator in sensitive geopolitical matters.

In response, Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting peaceful conflict resolution through dialogue and diplomacy. He stressed that Pakistan remains dedicated to playing a proactive role in reducing tensions and fostering understanding among nations, particularly in regions facing instability.

Both sides also underscored the importance of maintaining regular high-level engagements to sustain momentum in bilateral relations. In this context, they discussed the rescheduling of the planned visit of Shehbaz Sharif to Russia. The visit, which holds strategic significance, is expected to take place at a mutually convenient date in the near future.

Additionally, Ishaq Dar extended a formal invitation to Sergey Lavrov to visit Pakistan, signaling Islamabad’s interest in further deepening diplomatic and strategic cooperation with Moscow.

The conversation concluded with both leaders agreeing to remain in close contact and continue consultations on regional and global developments. The dialogue highlights the strengthening partnership between Pakistan and Russia, as both nations seek to enhance cooperation and contribute to global peace and stability.
