Houthis Reach Yemen Town Near Strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait, sources say
ADEN: Yemeni Houthi forces have reached the Yemeni town of Dhubab, located directly on the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait opposite the island of Perim, two Yemeni government sources told Reuters on Friday.
The development could have significant strategic implications because control of Dhubab and Perim is considered key to gaining control over the narrow maritime passage, the government sources said on Thursday.
The Bab el-Mandeb Strait is a crucial global shipping route connecting the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden and the wider Arabian Sea.
