Security Forces Eliminate 21 Terrorists in Multiple engagement across K-P Operations
ISPR says total number of terrorists, trying to infiltrate, effectively killed by security forces, increased to 25
ISLAMABAD: Security forces have killed 21 terrorists belonging to the Indian-sponsored Fitna Al-Khawarij in multiple operations across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa between September 3 and 5, the military’s media wing said on Sunday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), 10 terrorists who had taken shelter along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in North Waziristan were eliminated following a successful engagement during the night of August 31 and September 1.
The latest action brought the total number of terrorists attempting to infiltrate Pakistan in the area who were killed by security forces to 25, the ISPR said.
In another engagement in North Waziristan, security forces detected the movement of a group of terrorists near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Troops effectively engaged the militants, killing seven terrorists in a precise operation, according to the statement.
Four additional terrorists were killed in two separate encounters in Kohat and Dera Ismail Khan districts during joint operations, the ISPR added.
The military’s media wing said the repeated attempts to infiltrate Pakistan from Afghanistan had once again vindicated Islamabad’s position regarding the failure of the Afghan Taliban regime to prevent terrorist organisations from using Afghan soil for cross-border terrorism.
The ISPR said the Afghan Taliban regime had repeatedly failed to ensure effective border management and fulfil its international obligations concerning counter-terrorism.
“Security forces remain resolute and unwavering in their commitment to defend the country’s frontiers,” the statement said.
Sanitisation operations were also under way to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the area, the ISPR added.
The military said the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee of the National Action Plan, would continue at full pace to eliminate foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the security forces for successfully eliminating the terrorists, saying the entire nation was proud of the professionalism and capabilities of the Armed Forces and law-enforcement agencies.
He said the nation stood “shoulder to shoulder” with the security forces in the ongoing fight against terrorism and reaffirmed that operations under Azm-e-Istehkam would continue until the complete elimination of foreign-sponsored terrorism from Pakistan.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi also praised the security forces, saying timely and effective operations had foiled the terrorists’ plans.
He said the sacrifices rendered by security personnel for the defence of the country and restoration of peace were a matter of national pride. The governor reiterated that the entire nation stood with the security forces in the fight against terrorism.
The latest operations follow the ISPR’s September 3 announcement that security forces had killed 15 terrorists attempting to infiltrate Pakistan from Afghanistan along the border opposite North Waziristan following a 36-hour engagement. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered during a subsequent sanitisation operation.
According to data from the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data (ACLED), terrorism and militant violence in Pakistan have increased significantly in recent years. The number of recorded attacks rose from 658 in 2022 to 2,425 in 2025, while attacks attributed to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) increased from 118 to 838 over the same period.
