Iran’s Deterrence Power Has Increased after Wars: Sayyari

TEHRAN: Iran’s deterrence capabilities have significantly increased following its recent experiences in conflicts with the United States and Israel, Deputy Chief of Iran’s Army for Coordination Affairs Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari has said.

Commenting on recent remarks by US President Donald Trump about mounting pressure on Iran, Sayyari said Washington’s statements reflected its inability to achieve its objectives on the battlefield.

He said strengthening the country’s deterrence capabilities remained a key responsibility of Iran’s Armed Forces.

“Given the valuable experiences gained from the 12-day war jointly imposed by the United States and Israel against Iran, as well as the subsequent 40-day war, including the Ramadan War and the Hormuz War, we have made significant efforts to identify and address potential weaknesses while strengthening our capabilities,” Sayyari said.

He added that these measures had resulted in a significant increase in Iran’s deterrence power.

Reacting to Trump’s remarks regarding a possible naval and economic blockade of Iran, Sayyari dismissed the US president’s statements as unfounded and repetitive.

He said Trump repeatedly claimed that Iran did not possess nuclear weapons, that the Iranian navy and air force had been destroyed, and that the country was facing severe economic difficulties.

“We have become accustomed to these unfounded and baseless statements,” Sayyari said, adding that US officials were fully aware of the capabilities of Iran’s Armed Forces and the determination of its people.

The Iranian commander stressed that Washington could not overcome Iran’s military capabilities, resistance or national resolve.

“As long as the noble people of the country remain united and stand alongside government officials, no one can defeat Iran,” he said.

Sayyari pointed to Iran’s eight-year war with Iraq from 1980 to 1988, known in Iran as the Sacred Defense, as an example of the nation’s resilience and determination.

He praised the continued support of the Iranian people for the country’s Islamic Establishment, describing their unity and commitment as a source of national strength.

Sayyari reiterated that Trump had continued to repeat the same claims about Iran’s military and nuclear capabilities, saying Tehran had become accustomed to such statements.
