Pakistan, Azerbaijan Agree to Strengthen Legal and Institutional Cooperation
Azam Nazeer Tarar, Azerbaijani ambassador discuss collaboration in legal affairs, IT and training programmes
ISLAMABAD: (News Pulse) Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar met with Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Irfan Davudov, to discuss ways to further strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in legal affairs, information technology and institutional development.
The meeting was attended by a delegation comprising Samir Ahmadli, First Secretary at the Azerbaijani Embassy, and Ali Gahramanov, the embassy’s media representative.
Senator Tarar welcomed Ambassador Davudov on assuming his diplomatic responsibilities in Pakistan and extended his best wishes for a successful tenure. He said relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan were rooted not only in strong government-to-government ties but also in shared religious, cultural and historical bonds between the peoples of the two countries.
The federal minister also recalled his longstanding friendly and fraternal relations with Azerbaijan’s minister of justice, highlighting the close ties between the two countries.
Ambassador Davudov thanked the Government of Pakistan for its continued support on the Karabakh issue and emphasised the importance of further strengthening the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Islamabad and Baku.
During the meeting, Senator Tarar highlighted ongoing collaboration between the two countries in legal affairs, information technology and other relevant sectors. He said exchange initiatives and professional training programmes were playing an important role in promoting institutional cooperation and sharing expertise.
The minister noted that the ministries of justice of Pakistan and Azerbaijan had conducted three training workshops over the past year, reflecting their mutual commitment to strengthening cooperation in the legal sector and enhancing the capacity of relevant institutions.
Both sides also discussed opportunities to broaden bilateral engagement, deepen legal and institutional ties, and explore further areas of cooperation for mutual benefit.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of Pakistan and Azerbaijan to building on their close relations through continued dialogue, professional exchanges and cooperation across key sectors.
