Armed Forces Pay Tribute to Martyrs, Reaffirm Resolve to Defend Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: The Armed Forces of Pakistan on the occasion of the 61st Defence and Martyrs’ Day paid profound tribute to the martyrs of the country and expressed their deepest respect and gratitude to the Ghazis and families of the Shuhada.
Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu and Commander National Strategic Command General Syed Aamer Raza, along with the Armed Forces of Pakistan, paid homage to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of the motherland.
The Armed Forces said September 6 remains an enduring symbol of national unity, courage and determination, recalling how the Pakistani nation stood united in defence of the country during the 1965 war.
They said the martyrs of Pakistan embody the highest ideals of honour, duty and sacrifice. Generations of defenders have rendered their lives while serving the nation on battlefields, in the skies and at sea.
The Armed Forces also paid tribute to the families of the martyrs, describing them as symbols of courage, resilience and fortitude. The Ghazis serving on the country’s frontiers were also saluted for their valour, steadfastness and distinguished service.
The Armed Forces reiterated that they remain fully prepared to safeguard Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national interests.
They said Pakistan seeks peace, stability and prosperity in the region and remains committed to responsible conduct and peaceful coexistence. However, this commitment should never be misconstrued as weakness, they added.
The Armed Forces made it clear that any aggression against Pakistan would be met with a swift and decisive response.
On Defence and Martyrs’ Day, the Armed Forces renewed their pledge of unwavering devotion to Pakistan and its people, saying the sacrifices of the Shuhada, the courage of the Ghazis and the resilience of their families would forever remain a source of national strength and pride.
Standing united with the nation, the Armed Forces reaffirmed their commitment to continue discharging their sacred responsibilities with honour, professionalism and unwavering resolve.
