Pakistan, China Reaffirm Strategic Partnership as Ishaq Dar Meets Wang Yi at SCO Foreign Ministers Meeting

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi discussed bilateral ties, regional developments and SCO cooperation during a meeting in Kyrgyzstan, with China expressing support for Pakistan’s upcoming SCO chairmanship.
CHOLPON-ATA, Kyrgyzstan: (News Pulse) Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Thursday on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting in Cholpon-Ata, where the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and regional cooperation.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, Dar and Wang held a warm and productive discussion covering Pakistan-China relations, regional developments and cooperation within multilateral forums, including the SCO.
Dar thanked Wang for acknowledging Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting regional peace and stability, following the Chinese foreign minister’s remarks during the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers meeting.
During the meeting, Wang extended China’s best wishes to Pakistan for its upcoming chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State (CHS) and for hosting the SCO Summit in 2027.
The meeting underscored the close strategic partnership between Pakistan and China as both countries continue to coordinate on regional security, economic cooperation and multilateral engagement through platforms such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Pakistan is set to assume the chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State ahead of hosting the leaders’ summit in 2027, a role expected to enhance Islamabad’s diplomatic engagement with member states.
