IRGC claims strike on Amazon data infrastructure in Bahrain, targets US military bases in Gulf
TEHRAN: Iran’s IRGC claims it struck Amazon’s data infrastructure in Bahrain and multiple US military facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait amid escalating conflict with Washington.
IRGC claims attacks on Amazon infrastructure and US military facilities
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed on Tuesday that it targeted central data infrastructure belonging to US technology giant Amazon in Bahrain with cruise missiles, while also launching multiple waves of missile and drone attacks against US military installations in Bahrain and Kuwait.
According to the IRGC, the Amazon-linked infrastructure in Bahrain was destroyed during the operation. However, there was no immediate response from Bahrain, the United States or Amazon, and the claims could not be independently verified.
Operation Nasr-2 launched in response to US strikes
In statements carried by Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency, the IRGC said the attacks were part of the 24th wave of Operation Nasr-2, launched under the code name “Ya Roghayeh (S)”. The group described the operation as retaliation for recent US air strikes on Iranian territory.
The IRGC said the first phase of the operation targeted a US military radar installation in Muharraq, Bahrain, claiming it had been rendered inoperable. It also alleged that a Patriot air defence system in Riffa was simultaneously struck using missiles and drones.
Kuwait military facilities also targeted
According to the IRGC, the second phase focused on US military installations in Kuwait, including a long-range radar facility, a telecommunications centre, satellite reception systems and a missile defence radar.
The group further claimed that it struck a hangar housing MQ-9 drones at Ali Al Salem Air Base, saying several aircraft were damaged or destroyed during the attack.
In a subsequent statement, the IRGC said it expanded operations to Ahmad Al Jaber Air Base in Kuwait, claiming to have destroyed an early-warning radar, an FPS-117 radar system, a Patriot air defence battery and a satellite communications network supporting US military operations.
IRGC vows further military operations
The IRGC said the attacks were intended to eliminate obstacles to future large-scale missile and air operations while responding to what it described as US aggression and threats to security in the Strait of Hormuz.
It warned that its military campaign against US forces would continue, claiming that the destruction of regional radar systems would enable more extensive missile and drone attacks in the coming days.
Conflict between Iran and US continues to escalate
The latest claims came after US President Donald Trump said Iran had “lost everything, almost, militarily” following several days of sustained US air strikes.
The United States has carried out repeated attacks on Iranian targets in recent days, while Iran has responded with missile and drone strikes on military facilities and bases that it says are used by US forces across the Middle East.
The claims made by the IRGC regarding damage to Amazon infrastructure and US military facilities have not been independently verified, and no official confirmation has been issued by US authorities, Bahrain, Kuwait or Amazon.
