Dar- Araghchi Review Regional Situation, Welcome Progress in Diplomatic Engagements
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Senator Mohammed Ishaq Dar, held a telephone conversation this evening with Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, during which both leaders discussed bilateral relations and key regional developments.
According to Pakistan Foreign Affairs , during the call, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar extended his felicitations to the leadership, government, and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran over the signing of the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding” with the United States, describing it as a historic development. He further conveyed his best wishes for the upcoming phase of negotiations, expressing optimism that the process would proceed smoothly and lead to constructive and positive outcomes for all parties involved.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Araghchi appreciated Pakistan’s continued constructive role and sustained mediation efforts in facilitating diplomatic engagement and supporting dialogue between relevant stakeholders.
The two foreign ministers also exchanged detailed views on the evolving regional security situation. They expressed serious concern over recent ceasefire violations reportedly carried out by Israel in Lebanon, emphasizing that such developments could further destabilize an already fragile regional environment.
In addition, Foreign Minister Araghchi expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its assistance in facilitating the repatriation of 30 Iranian nationals. This group included eight fishermen who were rescued at sea by the United Kingdom and 22 crew members recently interdicted by the United States. Pakistan is currently coordinating transit arrangements for their safe return.
