Pakistan and Saudi Arabia Agree to Boost Security Cooperation and Training Ties
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have taken new steps to strengthen their longstanding security cooperation, following a high-level meeting between the interior ministers of both countries in Mina during the Hajj season.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif in Mina, where Naqvi was present to perform Hajj. The meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere, reflecting the close and brotherly relations between the two nations.
During the meeting, both ministers exchanged warm greetings and congratulated each other on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. Prince Abdulaziz also extended congratulations to Mohsin Naqvi on successfully performing Hajj, while Naqvi appreciated the Saudi government’s exceptional arrangements for pilgrims, praising the smooth management and services provided during the pilgrimage.
The discussions focused on expanding bilateral cooperation in the areas of internal security, law enforcement coordination, and capacity building. Both sides agreed on the importance of enhancing operational ties between the two interior ministries to address shared security challenges and improve coordination mechanisms.
A key outcome of the meeting was the agreement to send a high-level delegation from Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior to Pakistan in the near future. This visit is expected to further strengthen institutional cooperation and explore new avenues for joint training and collaboration.
Additionally, it was decided that 200 personnel from Pakistan’s Federal Constabulary Special Diplomatic Protection Unit will be sent to Saudi Arabia for specialized training. This initiative is aimed at improving professional skills and enhancing the capability of Pakistani security forces, particularly in diplomatic security operations.
Regional security developments were also discussed during the meeting. Prince Abdulaziz appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional stability and reducing tensions, acknowledging its efforts in maintaining peace and diplomatic engagement in the region.
According to official statements from Pakistan’s Interior Ministry and reports from Saudi media, including the Saudi Gazette, the meeting at the Saudi Ministry of Interior headquarters in Makkah also covered a range of issues of mutual interest, reinforcing the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Overall, the meeting highlighted a shared commitment by both Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to deepen cooperation in security, training, and regional stability, while maintaining their traditionally close bilateral ties.
