Australia dominate ICC rankings as Pakistan climb in men’s tests but slip in women’s ODIs
Pakistan Rise to 6th in Men’s Tests
Australia have maintained their dominance in world cricket, topping both the ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings and the ICC Women’s ODI Team Rankings after the annual update released on Friday.
Australia Extend Lead in Men’s Test Rankings
Australia remain firmly at No. 1 in the Men’s Test Rankings with 131 rating points, ahead of South Africa on 119 points. India sit third with 104 points, while England have dropped to fourth with 102 points after losing seven rating points.
New Zealand follow closely in fifth place, just one point behind England.
Pakistan Rise to 6th in Men’s Tests
A key change in the updated standings sees Pakistan move up to sixth position with 89 points, overtaking Sri Lanka, who drop to seventh with 86 points.
Pakistan’s rise comes after ranking recalculations, including the removal of older results and changes in match weightings, which improved their overall rating.
Women’s ODI Rankings: Pakistan Drop to 8th
In the Women’s ODI Rankings, Australia continue to lead comfortably with 163 points, followed by England (128) and India (124). The top six positions remain unchanged, with South Africa, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka completing the group.
Pakistan, however, have slipped to eighth place after being overtaken by Bangladesh, who move up to seventh. The shift comes despite overall stability in the top tier of the rankings.
Other Key Changes
Sri Lanka have improved slightly in Women’s ODIs, reducing the gap with New Zealand, while Bangladesh’s rise is one of the notable movements in the lower half of the table.
Ireland (Men’s Tests), along with Thailand and the Netherlands (Women’s ODIs), have dropped out of the rankings due to not meeting the minimum match requirements.
Upcoming ICC Updates
The ICC will release the Men’s and Women’s T20I Team Rankings on May 5, followed by the Men’s ODI Team Rankings on May 7.
