Iran FM calls Islamabad visit “productive”, discusses US talks and Hormuz security

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, speaking through the official IRNA news agency, described his recent visit to Islamabad as “very productive,” saying it involved detailed and “good consultations” with officials.

He stated that during his meetings in Islamabad, both sides reviewed past developments and discussed the specific conditions under which future negotiations between Iran and the United States could potentially resume. The talks were described as part of broader diplomatic efforts to reassess regional and international diplomatic channels.

Araghchi also spoke about his visit to Oman, where discussions focused on the strategic Strait of Hormuz. He emphasized that Iran and Oman, as the two coastal states of the Strait, have a shared responsibility to maintain stability in the region.

He noted that ensuring safe maritime passage through the Strait has become an increasingly important global concern. According to him, both countries agreed on the need for close coordination and continued dialogue to safeguard mutual interests and regional security.

The Iranian foreign minister added that there is a “high degree of consensus” between Tehran and Muscat, with both sides agreeing to continue consultations at the expert level in order to maintain ongoing cooperation.
