COAS Field Marshal Asim Munir meets Iranian President Pezeshkian
TEHRAN: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir held a high-level meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during his official visit to Iran, according to reports from Iranian media. The meeting reflected the ongoing diplomatic engagement between the two neighboring countries and underscored their shared interest in strengthening bilateral ties.
The discussions were attended by Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, highlighting the importance both sides attach to political, security, and diplomatic coordination.
In a separate engagement, the Chief of Army Staff also met with Major General Ali Abdollahi, Commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters. The two military leaders held comprehensive discussions on bilateral military relations, regional developments, and issues of mutual concern, with a particular focus on enhancing security cooperation and maintaining stability in the region.
During the meeting, Major General Abdollahi expressed his appreciation to the government and people of Pakistan for their continued support during a period of heightened regional tensions. He referred to what he described as the second and third phases of US-Israeli aggression, acknowledging Pakistan’s stance and diplomatic position during that time.
The Iranian commander further stated that all equipment used by Iran in the recent conflict had been developed domestically, emphasizing the country’s growing self-reliance in defence production. He credited Iranian youth and local expertise for achieving these advancements, noting their role in strengthening national defence capabilities.
He concluded by affirming that Iran’s armed forces remain fully prepared to respond decisively to any future threats, and are capable of mounting a comprehensive defence in the face of further aggression.
