US President urges to go to Strait of Hormuz and ‘just take it’
Trump singles out Britain, France as unhelpful in month-long war
WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday called on countries that did not participate in the recent U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran to secure their own energy supplies, suggesting they purchase American oil or obtain it directly from the Strait of Hormuz.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump specifically criticised the United Kingdom and France for what he described as a lack of support during the month-long conflict, which has disrupted global markets, increased energy prices, and significantly affected oil tanker movement through the Strait.
Trump said countries facing fuel shortages should turn to U.S. energy exports and take stronger action to protect their own interests. He also warned that the United States may not continue to provide support to allies that do not reciprocate.
Additionally, he accused France of refusing to allow aircraft carrying military supplies to Israel to pass through its airspace.
