TEHRAN: Senior representatives from Iran, Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia have begun a high-level security meeting in Tehran to discuss regional security, the implications of US-Israeli military actions, and efforts to support the Palestinian and Lebanese people.

The four-way meeting, which commenced on Monday, was proposed by Pakistan and convened with Iran’s support and cooperation, reflecting efforts to strengthen regional consultations on pressing security and political challenges.

Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), Major General Mohsen Rezaei, is hosting the meeting, which brings together senior military, defence and intelligence officials from the four countries.

Pakistan is represented by Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, while Saudi Arabia’s delegation is led by Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman. Türkiye is represented by National Intelligence Organization Director Ibrahim Kalin.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also attended the four-nation meeting, underscoring the diplomatic dimension of the discussions.

Before the meeting, the representatives of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to discuss regional developments and matters of mutual interest.

The discussions are centred on regional security and stability, the repercussions of US-Israeli military actions, and support for Palestinians and Lebanese amid continuing regional tensions.

The meeting provides a platform for the four countries to exchange views on shared security concerns and explore avenues for regional coordination through dialogue and cooperation.
