‘Hit 3, We Hit 20’, Iran Issues Stark Warning of Massive Retaliation
TEHRAN: Iran has warned that it will respond to any enemy aggression with overwhelming force, with the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) saying that if two or three Iranian targets are attacked, Tehran could retaliate against as many as 20 targets.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, IRGC spokesperson Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi said Iran’s control, authority and operational management of the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz had become “realized, certain and demonstrable.”
Mohebbi was commenting on the IRGC Navy’s reported capture of a US unmanned submarine in the Strait of Hormuz, saying the development demonstrated Iran’s growing ability to monitor and control activity in the strategic waterway.
He warned that any vessel attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without taking Iran’s declared management of the waterway into consideration would “definitely not be able to pass through.”
The IRGC spokesperson also claimed that the number of US warships operating inside the Persian Gulf had sharply declined since the beginning of what he described as the US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran.
According to Mohebbi, around 30 to 40 US vessels and warships had previously been deployed inside the Persian Gulf.
“Today, not even a single one of them is present in this area,” he said, adding that US warships had withdrawn at least 400 kilometers from the Strait of Hormuz.
Mohebbi further claimed that Iran had developed the capability to strike targets at considerable distances using advanced missiles and other weapons.
“We also hit an aircraft carrier a few days ago at a distance of about 500 kilometers,” he said.
The IRGC spokesman issued a particularly strong warning over any future attacks on Iranian positions, saying Tehran would respond on a much larger scale.
“We have reached a point where if the enemy hits two or three of our targets, we will respond strongly with 20 targets,” Mohebbi said.
He warned that Iran would use its military capabilities to retaliate against aggression and impose a heavy cost on any party that continued attacks against the Islamic Republic.
“The Islamic Republic will use this power to respond to the enemy’s aggression and make the enemy regret continuing its aggression,” he said.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important maritime routes and a major corridor for global energy shipments. Iran has repeatedly emphasized the strategic importance of the waterway and its ability to monitor and respond to military and maritime activity in the region.
