Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos and Responsible Conduct

Providing context on security developments, Dar referred to Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, stating that Pakistan’s response during the operation was “measured, proportionate, and fully consistent with international law.”

He reiterated that actions were conducted strictly in line with the principles of the United Nations Charter, with operations targeting only military installations while deliberately avoiding civilian areas.

He warned that any escalation in hostilities could endanger civilians and destabilize the broader region, stressing the importance of restraint and diplomatic engagement.

Jammu & Kashmir: Core Regional Dispute

A major focus of the briefing was the longstanding issue of Jammu and Kashmir. Dar reiterated Pakistan’s position that the dispute remains the central cause of tension and instability in South Asia.

He called for a peaceful and just resolution of the issue in accordance with UN resolutions and under UN auspices, urging the international community to remain engaged and supportive of dialogue-based solutions.

Indus Waters Treaty and Regional Stability

Dar also raised concerns regarding any unilateral actions affecting the Indus Waters Treaty, stressing that the treaty is a vital framework for regional water security and cooperation.

He cautioned that undermining such agreements could have serious implications for trust, stability, and peaceful coexistence between neighboring countries.

Pakistan’s Diplomatic and Peace Efforts

The Foreign Minister highlighted Pakistan’s broader diplomatic role, particularly its efforts in facilitating dialogue and supporting ceasefire initiatives in conflict-affected regions, including the Gulf and the Middle East.

He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to multilateral diplomacy, active participation in the United Nations peacekeeping missions, and constructive engagement in global affairs.

Commitment to Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence

Concluding the briefing, Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s consistent foreign policy stance focused on dialogue, diplomacy, and peaceful coexistence, especially in South Asia.

He emphasized that while Pakistan remains committed to peace, it will continue to ensure the protection of its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence.

Diplomatic Engagement

The briefing was attended by members of the Diplomatic Corps and served as an opportunity to exchange views on regional security dynamics and global developments. Officials noted that such engagements help maintain transparency and strengthen communication between Pakistan and the international community.
