Maldives President to Visit Pakistan on October 20, First Visit in 11 Years<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Shehbaz Sharif, Mohamed Muizzu to hold delegation-level talks; Pakistan\u2013Maldives Business Forum, multiple MoUs planned to boost trade and investment<\/p>\n

ISLAMABAD: (News Pulse) President of the Republic of Maldives Dr. Mohamed Muizzu will undertake a three-day state visit to Pakistan from October 20 to 22 at the invitation of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, with both countries expected to explore new avenues for cooperation in trade, investment, defence, maritime security, tourism and other key sectors.<\/p>\n

According to the Foreign Office<\/a>, President Muizzu will be accompanied by First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed and a high-level delegation comprising cabinet ministers and senior officials.<\/p>\n

During the visit, the Maldivian president will meet President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, who will host a state banquet in his honour. President Muizzu will also hold restricted and delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to review the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n

The discussions will cover a broad range of areas, including trade, investment, health, education, tourism, agriculture, defence, maritime security, climate change and people-to-people exchanges. The two leaders will also exchange views on regional and international developments of mutual interest.<\/p>\n

A key feature of the visit will be the Pakistan\u2013Maldives Business Forum, which aims to bring the business communities of both countries closer and identify new opportunities for trade, investment and private-sector partnerships. Several agreements and memorandums of understanding covering different areas of bilateral cooperation are also expected to be signed during the visit.<\/p>\n

The state visit holds particular significance as it will be the first visit by a Maldivian president to Pakistan in 11 years. It also coincides with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the Maldives, which began in 1966.<\/p>\n

Pakistan and the Maldives enjoy warm and friendly relations based on shared faith, mutual respect, longstanding goodwill and cooperation at regional and international forums. Both countries have maintained diplomatic engagement on matters of common interest and have sought to expand collaboration across multiple sectors.<\/p>\n

The forthcoming visit is expected to provide fresh momentum to bilateral ties, strengthen political engagement and create new opportunities for mutually beneficial economic cooperation. The two sides are also expected to reaffirm their commitment to expanding their partnership amid evolving regional and international challenges.<\/p>\n
