Saudi Arabia Cancels Oil Shipments to European Refineries as Global Supply Crisis Deepens<\/strong><\/h3>\n

European refiners scramble for alternative crude supplies as Saudi pipeline shutdown threatens global oil flows<\/p>\n

LONDON: Saudi Arabia has cancelled or delayed crude oil shipments to some European refineries following the closure of its East-West oil pipeline, putting further pressure on global oil supplies and pushing crude prices higher.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to Reuters, industry sources said European refiners were seeking alternative sources of crude after disruptions to Saudi<\/a> supplies. The development has raised fresh concerns over the stability of global energy markets amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.<\/p>\n

Poland\u2019s major oil company Orlen is among the European refiners looking for alternative supplies. Five industry sources told Reuters that Orlen was seeking crude cargoes from the North Sea and other regions to compensate for the shortfall in Saudi supplies.<\/p>\n

The Saudi decision comes after the country\u2019s key East-West oil pipeline was shut following a drone attack. The roughly 1,200-kilometre pipeline transports crude from Saudi Arabia\u2019s oil-producing regions in the east to the Red Sea, allowing the kingdom to reduce its reliance on shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n

The pipeline shutdown has created serious concerns over Saudi Arabia\u2019s ability to maintain its crude exports. According to Reuters, sources warned that if flows through the pipeline are not restored quickly, Saudi Arabia could run out of crude available for export from the Red Sea port of Yanbu within days.<\/p>\n

The disruption has already sent shockwaves through international oil markets. On Tuesday, Brent crude rose by around $3 a barrel to above $108 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate crude climbed above $104 per barrel.<\/p>\n

The latest disruption comes as global oil markets are already facing significant uncertainty because of tensions across the Middle East. Reduced tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, attacks by Houthi forces in the Red Sea and threats to Saudi energy infrastructure have created additional risks for international oil supply chains.<\/p>\n

Analysts warn that a prolonged disruption to Saudi exports could have consequences beyond crude oil prices. European and other international markets could see higher prices for petrol, diesel and other refined petroleum products if refiners are forced to compete for alternative supplies.<\/p>\n

Higher energy prices could also intensify inflationary pressures around the world. Oil-importing countries in particular could face increased import bills, higher transportation costs and additional pressure on their economies.<\/p>\n

Saudi Arabia is one of the world\u2019s largest oil exporters, meaning any major disruption to its production, transportation or exports can have an immediate impact on global energy markets.<\/p>\n

The efforts by European refineries to secure alternative crude from the North Sea and other regions indicate that the impact of the Saudi supply disruption is already spreading beyond the kingdom and into international markets.<\/p>\n

Market participants are now closely watching developments surrounding the East-West pipeline, Saudi export levels and the security of major oil transportation routes.
