Pezeshkian Urges Trump to Avoid Turmoil, Reaffirms Iran\u2019s Right to Self-Defence<\/strong><\/h3>\n

TEHRAN: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has urged US President Donald Trump to avoid escalating tensions, saying outstanding issues between Tehran and Washington can be resolved through dialogue and implementation of a memorandum of understanding.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Speaking at a ceremony in Tehran on Saturday, Pezeshkian<\/a> said diplomacy remained the preferred path for resolving disputes and protecting Iran\u2019s rights.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we proceed through dialogue and on the basis of the memorandum of understanding, we will resolve the problems and secure our rights,\u201d he said, according to Mehr News Agency.<\/p>\n

The Iranian president said it was in the interest of Iran, the region and the international community for Washington to avoid creating turmoil and for Israel to refrain from what he described as insecurity and aggression.<\/p>\n

Pezeshkian stressed that Iran did not seek war but would respond firmly to any attack.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe do not like war, but we will stand with strength against aggression and defend ourselves,\u201d he said, adding that no power could force a united nation determined to defend its territory to surrender.<\/p>\n

He said Tehran remained committed to resolving disputes through negotiations but warned that the Iranian people, government officials and military commanders would \u201cnever surrender\u201d in the face of threats or aggression.<\/p>\n

The president also accused Israel of attempting to create divisions among Muslim countries, saying stronger unity among Islamic nations could frustrate such efforts.<\/p>\n

Iran sets industrial production as winter \u2018red line\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

Addressing domestic challenges, Pezeshkian said maintaining industrial production during the coming winter would be a government \u201cred line\u201d.<\/p>\n

He directed authorities to ensure uninterrupted supplies of gas, electricity and water to production facilities, warning that disruptions could adversely affect economic activity.<\/p>\n

The president said the government would manage consumption of water, electricity, gas and fuel. If restrictions became unavoidable, he said government offices and public buildings would be the first to face reductions rather than placing the burden on ordinary citizens.<\/p>\n

Pezeshkian also called on the Iranian public to cooperate with the government in maintaining stability, saying Iran\u2019s adversaries should not assume that economic or military pressure would force the country to surrender.<\/p>\n

US naval blockade created \u2018exceptional\u2019 conditions: Tehran governor<\/strong><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Tehran Governor Mohammad-Sadeq Motamedian said the US naval blockade and attacks on Iranian infrastructure had created \u201cvery exceptional and unique\u201d conditions for managing the country during the war.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Iranian television, Motamedian said Iran had faced intensified sanctions, attacks on infrastructure and restrictions in the maritime domain, according to the Iranian Students\u2019 News Agency (ISNA).<\/p>\n

He said infrastructure across the country, particularly in Tehran, had been targeted during the conflict.<\/p>\n

More than 1,200 electricity infrastructure sites across Tehran province were reportedly hit, but authorities managed to restore services within a short period, the governor said.<\/p>\n

Water infrastructure was also damaged and subsequently repaired, while telecommunications and gas facilities were affected during the conflict, he added.<\/p>\n

According to Motamedian, intensified sanctions during the war placed additional pressure on Iran\u2019s already strained economy.<\/p>\n

Iran transfers $7.5 billion in oil revenues to central bank<\/strong><\/p>\n

Despite the pressure, Iran transferred around $7.5 billion in oil revenues generated during the first four months of the current Iranian year to its central bank, semi-official Fars News Agency reported.<\/p>\n

The funds are reportedly sufficient to cover the government\u2019s foreign-currency expenditures from July through December, citing information obtained from Iran\u2019s Oil Ministry.<\/p>\n

The report said Iran has sufficient oil available for sale outside the US naval blockade to meet the revenue targets included in its state budget for the year running from March 21, 2026, to March 20, 2027.<\/p>\n

Oil revenues between March 21 and July 22 reached around 99% of the amount projected in the budget for the first four months of the year, according to the report.<\/p>\n

The development comes as the US naval blockade has disrupted Iran\u2019s maritime trade and oil exports.<\/p>\n

Tehran says diplomacy and defence must move together<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Iranian government separately pledged to resist US sanctions and what it called US-Israeli \u201cconspiracies\u201d, saying diplomacy and defence were complementary and inseparable elements of its national strategy.<\/p>\n

In a statement carried by Iranian state media, the government said it would pursue diplomatic and defence efforts simultaneously to safeguard national interests, security and territorial integrity.<\/p>\n

The government also said it would focus on controlling inflation, generating employment, supporting domestic production and gradually reducing the economy\u2019s dependence on the US dollar.<\/p>\n

Iran war reportedly strains US military stockpiles<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Wall Street Journal reported that the extensive use of advanced US weaponry during the conflict with Iran had significantly depleted American military stockpiles, potentially affecting Washington\u2019s ability to respond to threats from China and Russia.<\/p>\n

According to the report, US military planners had raised concerns that the drain on weapons supplies had forced the US European Command to adjust operational plans.<\/p>\n

US officials reportedly assessed that Washington might not be able to fully implement contingency plans to defend Taiwan in the event of a short-term military crisis.<\/p>\n

The transfer of air-defence systems from Japan, South Korea and Germany to the Middle East has also created gaps in the US global military posture, the report said.<\/p>\n

European inventories of PAC-3 Patriot interceptors and ATACMS missiles were reportedly at critically low levels, while THAAD interceptors and counter-drone systems had also been redirected toward the Middle East.<\/p>\n

The developments have reportedly reduced the ability of Western countries to supply additional interceptors to Ukraine as it continues to face Russian missile attacks.<\/p>\n

The White House and Pentagon, however, have denied that the US military is facing a shortage of ammunition, maintaining that Washington has sufficient resources to pursue President Trump\u2019s objectives.<\/p>\n

400 ships stranded in Gulf amid continuing conflict<\/strong><\/p>\n

The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) has warned that around 400 vessels carrying nearly 6,000 seafarers remain stranded in the Gulf amid the continuing Middle East conflict.<\/p>\n

IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez said some ships and crews had managed to leave the Gulf, but hundreds remained unable to depart safely.<\/p>\n

He described the situation surrounding the Strait of Hormuz as unresolved. The strategic waterway handles around one-fifth of global oil trade, making disruptions there a major concern for international energy markets.<\/p>\n

The IMO said it had verified at least 70 attacks on international shipping since the conflict began on February 28, resulting in the deaths of 19 seafarers.<\/p>\n

Dominguez warned that disruption to fuel and fertiliser supply chains could have \u201cgrave\u201d consequences for economies and communities around the world.<\/p>\n

He called for renewed political efforts by governments and the shipping industry to restore freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n

US-Iran talks remain stalled<\/strong><\/p>\n

The latest developments come after the United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding in June and began negotiations aimed at reaching a broader agreement.<\/p>\n

However, the talks subsequently stalled over disagreements involving security guarantees and freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n

With tensions continuing to affect Iran\u2019s economy, regional security and international shipping, Tehran has maintained that it remains open to diplomacy while insisting it will respond to any military aggression.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
