US Congress Members Meet Field Marshal Asim Munir, Discuss Regional Security and Economic Cooperation<\/strong><\/h3>\n

RAWALPINDI: Two members of the United States House of Representatives held talks with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Monday, where both sides discussed regional security, bilateral defence cooperation and ways to enhance economic and trade relations between Pakistan and the United States.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR<\/a>), the visiting US congressional delegation comprised Representative Ryan Keith Zinke from the state of Montana and Representative Michael James from Washington. The lawmakers met Field Marshal Asim Munir to exchange views on issues of mutual interest and explore opportunities for expanding bilateral engagement.<\/p>\n

The meeting focused on the evolving regional security environment, strengthening defence cooperation and identifying new avenues to boost economic collaboration between the two countries. Both sides emphasized the importance of sustained engagement in promoting regional peace, stability and prosperity.<\/p>\n

During the discussions, Field Marshal Asim Munir underscored Pakistan’s growing economic potential, stating that long-term regional stability is closely linked to economic development, enhanced trade and greater regional connectivity. He stressed that economic cooperation can serve as a catalyst for peace and shared prosperity across the region.<\/p>\n

The army chief also briefed the visiting US lawmakers on Pakistan’s ongoing structural and economic reforms designed to improve the country’s investment climate. He highlighted government initiatives aimed at creating a business-friendly environment, facilitating foreign investment and promoting sustainable economic growth.<\/p>\n

According to the ISPR, the US congressional delegation acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in supporting regional stability and strengthening economic resilience. The lawmakers appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace and recognized the significance of continued bilateral cooperation in addressing common regional challenges.<\/p>\n

The discussions also covered potential areas for expanding economic engagement, encouraging private-sector partnerships and increasing bilateral trade and commercial investment. Both sides expressed interest in exploring new opportunities that could further strengthen economic ties between Pakistan and the United States.<\/p>\n

The visiting representatives thanked the military leadership for the warm hospitality extended during their visit and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening institutional, commercial and economic relations between the two countries.<\/p>\n
