No breakthrough after 21-hour Iran\u2013US Talks in Islamabad; Diplomacy hinges on \u2018good faith\u2019<\/strong><\/h3>\n

ISLAMABAD: High-stakes negotiations between the United States and Iran concluded after 21 hours in Pakistan\u2019s capital without a breakthrough, as Washington presented what it called a \u201cfinal and best offer\u201d while Tehran stressed that any progress depends on \u201cseriousness and good faith\u201d and respect for its national interests.<\/p>\n

\u2018Substantive Discussions\u2019 but No Deal<\/strong><\/p>\n

Addressing the media, JD Vance<\/a> confirmed that despite extensive engagement, the talks ended without agreement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe good news is that we\u2019ve had a number of substantive discussions with the Iranians\u2026 the bad news is that we have not reached an agreement,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Vance noted that the United States had clearly outlined its \u201cred lines,\u201d but Iran did not accept the proposed terms. He added that the American delegation would return without a deal, while appreciating Pakistan\u2019s role in facilitating the dialogue.<\/p>\n

Iran Calls for \u2018Seriousness and Good Faith\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

Iran\u2019s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said Tehran remains committed to diplomacy but warned that trust and respect are essential for progress.<\/p>\n

He emphasized that Iranian negotiators are working to safeguard national interests, adding that discussions covered key issues such as the Strait of Hormuz, Iran\u2019s nuclear programme, sanctions relief, war reparations, and a complete end to regional hostilities.<\/p>\n

Baqaei urged the other side to avoid \u201cexcessive and unlawful demands,\u201d stating that the outcome depends on genuine commitment to dialogue.<\/p>\n

Trump: \u2018US Wins Regardless\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Donald Trump downplayed the importance of reaching a deal, claiming that the United States had already achieved its objectives.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhether we make a deal or not makes no difference to me\u2026 we\u2019ve won,\u201d he said, asserting that Washington had \u201cdefeated\u201d Iran militarily.<\/p>\n

Pakistan\u2019s Mediation Efforts<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with the Iranian delegation, led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, reaffirming Pakistan\u2019s commitment to facilitating dialogue.<\/p>\n

Sharif stressed that Islamabad would continue to play a mediating role to promote \u201cregional and global peace and stability.\u201d Senior officials, including Ishaq Dar and Asim Munir, also participated in the meeting.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Vance had met Sharif at the start of the talks, with both sides expressing hope that the negotiations could lead to durable peace.<\/p>\n

On the sidelines, Iran\u2019s central bank chief Abdolnasser Hemmati held discussions with Ishaq Dar, highlighting the economic stakes tied to regional stability and cooperation.<\/p>\n
