{"id":17123,"date":"2025-11-09T22:33:25","date_gmt":"2025-11-09T17:33:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newspulse.com.pk\/en\/?p=17123"},"modified":"2025-11-09T22:33:25","modified_gmt":"2025-11-09T17:33:25","slug":"prime-minister-orders-withdrawal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newspulse.com.pk\/en\/2025\/11\/09\/prime-minister-orders-withdrawal\/","title":{"rendered":"Prime Minister Orders Withdrawal of Proposal Seeking PM Immunity"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>Prime Minister Orders Withdrawal of Proposal Seeking PM Immunity<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"135\" data-end=\"372\">Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday directed that the proposed constitutional amendment submitted by several Pakistan Muslim League\u2013Nawaz (PML-N) senators \u2014 seeking immunity for the prime minister \u2014 be withdrawn immediately.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"374\" data-end=\"533\">In a post on X, the Prime Minister <a href=\"http:\/\/Mian Shehbaz Sharif\" target=\"_blank\">Shehbaz\u00a0<\/a> said that, as a matter of principle, an elected premier must remain fully accountable before both the courts and the public.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"535\" data-end=\"869\">Shehbaz stated that upon his return from Azerbaijan, he learned that a group of PML-N senators had put forward an amendment proposing immunity for the prime minister.<br data-start=\"701\" data-end=\"704\" \/>\u201cWhile I acknowledge their good-faith intent, the proposal was not part of the cabinet-approved draft. I have instructed that it be withdrawn immediately,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"871\" data-end=\"1214\">The treasury benches on Saturday moved the proposed bill containing the 27th Constitutional Amendment in the Senate. The bill seeks to grant constitutional protection to top armed forces positions; establish a federal constitutional court; allow the transfer of high court judges; and amend or substitute several key constitutional provisions.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1216\" data-end=\"1402\">However, the opposition rejected the draft soon after it was presented.
