ISLAMABAD: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, on Wednesday said the Pakistan Armed Forces are recalibrating their operational and development strategies in line with the rapidly evolving character of modern warfare, while reaffirming the country’s unwavering resolve to eliminate terrorism and safeguard national security.
The Field Marshal made these remarks while addressing the graduating officers of the National Security and War Course during his visit to the National Defence University (NDU) in Islamabad. The course participants included officers from all branches of the armed forces.
In his keynote address, Field Marshal Asim Munir highlighted the changing dynamics of warfare and stressed the importance of strategic clarity, institutional professionalism and effective leadership in addressing increasingly complex security challenges. He said the modern security environment demands military leaders who possess foresight, adaptability and the ability to respond to conventional, hybrid and sub-conventional threats.
He praised the National Defence University for its role in preparing future military and civil leadership, describing it as one of the country’s premier institutions dedicated to developing professionals capable of protecting Pakistan’s national interests in an increasingly challenging regional and global security environment.
The Army Chief said Pakistan’s Armed Forces are continuously reviewing and adapting their operational concepts, force development and employment strategies to remain prepared for emerging threats and the changing nature of conflict.
Referring to the country’s internal security situation, the Field Marshal said the Armed Forces remain fully aware of attempts by hostile intelligence agencies to destabilize Pakistan through state-sponsored activities and proxy networks.
He stated that elements operating under the patronage of hostile intelligence agencies would not be allowed to undermine Pakistan’s internal security, national cohesion or economic prosperity. He emphasized that all such efforts have failed in the past and would continue to fail due to the vigilance and preparedness of the country’s security institutions.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s determination to combat terrorism, the Army Chief said terrorism originating from across the country’s borders would be dealt with using the full strength of the state. He added that the Armed Forces, with the unwavering support of the people of Pakistan, would ensure the complete dismantling of terrorist sanctuaries, their facilitators and proxy networks involved in destabilizing the country.
Field Marshal Asim Munir also underscored that military success cannot be achieved through media campaigns or political slogans. He said wars are won through faith, unity, discipline, professional competence and sustained operational preparedness.
Concluding his address, the Field Marshal expressed complete confidence in the professionalism, high morale and operational readiness of the battle-hardened Pakistan Armed Forces. He urged the graduating officers to uphold the highest standards of integrity, selfless service, dedication and unwavering commitment to the nation throughout their professional careers.
