10 Countries, including Pakistan, condemn Israel’s interception of Gaza aid Flotilla
Pakistan and nine other countries on Tuesday issued a joint statement condemning Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla.
According to Foreign affairs that , A group of foreign ministers from Pakistan, Türkiye, Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Jordan, Libya, Maldives, and Spain has issued a strong joint statement condemning what they described as renewed Israeli assaults on the Global Sumud Flotilla, a civilian humanitarian initiative aimed at drawing international attention to the worsening humanitarian situation faced by the Palestinian people. The ministers said they strongly condemn these actions and expressed grave concern over reported Israeli interventions against civilian vessels operating in international waters, including alleged attacks on ships and the detention of activists onboard.
The statement recalls earlier interventions against similar flotillas and argues that continued targeting of humanitarian vessels and activists represents a serious violation of international law and international humanitarian law. The ministers stressed that such actions undermine the principles of freedom of navigation and the protection of civilians engaged in peaceful humanitarian efforts. They also expressed deep concern about the safety and security of those participating in the flotilla and demanded respect for their protection under international legal standards.
The ministers further called for the immediate release of all detained activists and urged that their rights and dignity be fully respected. They emphasized that humanitarian participants should not face detention or harm for engaging in peaceful missions intended to provide awareness and support for affected populations. According to the statement, repeated attacks on humanitarian initiatives demonstrate a continued disregard for international legal norms and contribute to growing instability in international maritime conduct.
Finally, the foreign ministers urged the international community to take responsibility in ensuring the protection of civilian and humanitarian missions at sea, to uphold international law, and to take concrete steps to ensure accountability for violations. They warned that failure to address such incidents risks further erosion of legal protections for humanitarian operations and civilian safety in conflict-related contexts.
