Pakistan, UK discuss regional developments and peace efforts in high-level contact

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation on Sunday evening with UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, during which both leaders discussed evolving regional developments and broader international concerns arising from ongoing conflicts.

According to Foreign Office details, the two sides exchanged views on the current regional situation and its implications for global stability. UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper appreciated Pakistan’s continued efforts aimed at promoting engagement and mediation between relevant parties, highlighting the importance of dialogue in achieving lasting peace in the region.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s consistent position in favour of diplomacy and peaceful negotiation, stressing that dialogue remains the preferred path for resolving disputes and ensuring long-term regional and global stability.

The conversation also included discussion on the wider economic consequences of ongoing conflicts, particularly their impact on global markets, energy security, and developing economies.
