St. Petersburg, Russia : Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday pledged that Russia would “do what it can” to help restore peace in West Asia, as he held high-level talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in St. Petersburg. The meeting comes at a critical moment, as diplomatic efforts continue following a fragile ceasefire between Iran and the United States.

During the meeting, Putin emphasized Russia’s willingness to support Iran and other regional countries in stabilizing the situation. According to Iranian state media, he also acknowledged receiving a message from Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.
“Russia will do what it can to support the interests of Iran and other regional countries and help bring peace to West Asia as soon as possible,” Putin said, expressing hope that Iran would overcome its current challenges.
Araghchi, in response, highlighted Iran’s resilience, stating that the country would continue to resist what he described as U.S. aggression. He reaffirmed that Iran and Russia share a “strategic partnership” and intend to deepen cooperation.
