PCB fines Naseem Shah Rs20m for violating contract over social media post

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday fined fast bowler Naseem Shah Rs20 million for violating multiple clauses of his central contract through a social media post.

The board had previously issued a show-cause notice to Shah on March 27, detailing the alleged breaches and requesting his explanation.

“A personal hearing was conducted by a three-member disciplinary committee after reviewing Shah’s response,” the PCB said in a statement.

Following Shah’s unconditional apology, the committee determined that he had indeed breached several clauses of his contract, resulting in the Rs20 million fine.

The PCB also confirmed that Shah’s social media adviser has been dismissed and blacklisted, barring them from working with any players under the board’s jurisdiction.

Reaffirming its stance on professional conduct, the PCB emphasized its commitment to maintaining high standards for players and officials, particularly regarding behavior on social media.
