Mediation efforts should be carried out by the countries that initiated them, Iranian president says

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that any mediation efforts to end the current war should come from the countries that initiated the conflict.

In a statement on the social media platform X, the Iranian president noted that some countries have already begun attempting mediation.

Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran is serious about peace in the region, but it will not hesitate to defend the country’s sovereignty and dignity. He added, “It should be clear that we are committed to lasting peace in the region, but we will not hesitate to protect the dignity and independence of our nation. Mediation should come from the parties that underestimated the Iranian people and fueled this conflict.”

The conflict has now entered its seventh day following attacks on Iran by the United States and Israel. According to Iranian reports, the death toll has reached 1,332.

Iranian media reported that 20 people were killed in Shiraz due to attacks targeting residential areas.

The Israeli military claimed that overnight, six Iranian ballistic missile launchers were destroyed, along with three advanced Iranian defense systems.

Meanwhile, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards claimed to have shot down an Israeli Heron drone in Isfahan, a US MQ-9 drone in Lorestan, and a Hermes drone near Tehran.
