Pakistan’s Passport Rises to 98th Spot in Global Travel Rankings

Henley Passport Index 2026 shows improved travel freedom for Pakistani citizens

Pakistan’s passport has climbed to the 98th position in the Henley Passport Index 2026, according to data released on Wednesday. The ranking reflects growing travel access for Pakistani citizens worldwide.

Access to 31 Countries without Pre-Arranged Visa

The index, compiled by London-based Henley & Partners using data from the International Air Transport Association, shows that Pakistani passport holders now enjoy visa-free, visa-on-arrival, or electronic travel authorization access to 31 destinations across Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, and Oceania.

Countries accessible without advance visas include Caribbean nations like Barbados and Dominica, African states such as Rwanda and Senegal, and South Pacific islands including Vanuatu and Samoa.

Government Welcomes the Improvement

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the rise, tweeting:

“Pakistan’s passport ranking improving from 126th to 98th is a strong achievement, and this momentum will continue, InshaAllah.”

The ranking marks a notable improvement from last year’s 103rd position, reflecting gradual diplomatic gains and new visa arrangements.

Pakistan Still Among the Weakest Passports Globally

Despite the rise, Pakistan’s passport remains relatively weak, tied with Yemen at 98th and slightly ahead of Iraq (99), Syria (100), and Afghanistan (101). Access is limited to only 31 countries, highlighting persistent challenges for travel related to tourism, business, and education.

Global Leaders in Passport Strength

At the top of the index, Singapore remains the world’s most powerful passport, granting visa-free access to 192 destinations, followed by Japan and South Korea.
