Pakistan rejects Indian FM Jaishankar’s remarks, warns against Indus Water treaty
FO accuses India of deflecting blame, reiterates position on Kashmir and water treaty
Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday rejected remarks attributed to India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and reiterated its position on the Indus Waters Treaty and the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir.
In response to statements made by the Indian Minister of External Affairs regarding Pakistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Mr. Tahir Andrabi, issued a firm rebuttal. He stated that Pakistan “firmly rejects the irresponsible assertions” and accused India of attempting to divert attention from its own record of promoting terrorism and regional instability.
Mr. Andrabi cited India’s alleged involvement in terrorist activities in Pakistan, including the case of Commander Kulbhushan Jadhav, describing it as “state-sponsored terrorism.” He also highlighted instances of extraterritorial killings, sabotage through proxies, and covert support to terrorist networks, linking these actions to extremist ideologies within India.
The spokesperson reaffirmed Pakistan’s stance on Jammu and Kashmir, condemning India’s military occupation and pledging continued political, moral, and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, as outlined in UN Security Council resolutions.
Regarding the Indus Waters Treaty, Mr. Andrabi warned that any unilateral violation by India would threaten regional stability and Pakistan’s rights under the agreement, emphasizing that Islamabad would take all necessary measures to safeguard its interests.
