Pakistan-Tajikistan Trade Volume Targeted at $500 Million
ISLAMABAD: (News Pulse) The Ambassador of Tajikistan to Pakistan, Sharifzoda Yusuf Toir, called on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday to discuss ways to further strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan and Tajikistan.
During the meeting, the Tajik Ambassador expressed his appreciation to the Deputy Prime Minister for Pakistan’s support in organizing the first-ever Tajik Culture Week in Pakistan, describing it as a landmark initiative that significantly enhanced cultural exchange and people-to-people contacts between the two friendly countries.
Senator Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to deepening its multi-dimensional cooperation with Tajikistan across various sectors, including trade, investment, energy, connectivity, and cultural exchanges. He noted that Pakistan highly values its close and brotherly relations with Tajikistan and emphasized the importance of sustaining momentum through regular diplomatic engagement.
The Deputy Prime Minister stated that Pakistan looks forward to a number of high-level bilateral engagements in 2026, which would help further consolidate cooperation and explore new avenues of partnership. He stressed the need for greater collaboration between the private sectors of both countries, highlighting that enhanced business-to-business contacts could play a crucial role in unlocking untapped trade potential.
Both sides agreed on the objective of increasing Pakistan–Tajikistan bilateral trade volume to US$500 million, underscoring the importance of facilitating trade, improving connectivity, and encouraging investment-friendly policies. The meeting also reviewed regional developments and reaffirmed the shared desire to promote peace, stability, and economic development in the region.
The Ambassador reiterated Tajikistan’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Pakistan and welcomed continued engagement at all levels. The meeting concluded with both sides expressing confidence that strengthened bilateral ties would contribute to mutual economic growth and closer relations between the two nations.
