Sherry Rehman Accuse India of Failing to Respond at UN, call for FATF Review
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and Senator Sherry Rehman on Monday said that India failed to submit a response to the United Nations despite being given time, warning that alleged Indian-backed terrorism posed a serious threat to regional peace.
Speaking at a press conference, Senator Rehman claimed that international forums had identified India’s alleged involvement in cross-border and international terrorism. She also referred to reports linking Indian nationals to a recent shooting incident in Sydney and called for greater international accountability.
The PPP senator urged the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) to review India’s alleged role in terrorism-related activities. Citing a United Nations report, she said concerns were growing over the expansion of major global conflicts and accused India of violating the Indus Waters Treaty.
On the occasion, Senator Bushra Anjum Butt said Pakistan’s stance was increasingly being acknowledged at the international level. She maintained that Pakistan’s narrative was based on facts, while accusing India of irresponsible behavior.
Senator Butt further alleged that Indian-backed groups were involved in terrorist activities in Balochistan, adding that India’s actions were being exposed globally. She reiterated that Pakistan had consistently advocated peace and responsible conduct, while claiming India lacked credible responses to the allegations.
