China continue to dominate diving events at World Aquatics
Lian Junjie and Yang Hao of China won the men’s 10-meter synchronized diving gold medal at the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, on Monday.
It’s the seventh gold the Chinese divers have won so far in the tournament.
They have not let even a single gold slip out of their hands in this year’s World Championships.
As the event’s reigning champions from 2022, Lian and Yang guarded their honor with 477.75 points. The two were only 0.6 points away from a perfect score of 60 in their first dive.
Oleksii Sereda and Kirill Boliukh of Ukraine finished as the runners-up. The bronze went to Kevin Berlin Ryes and Randal Willars Valdez of Mexico.
Chang Yani and Chen Yiwen of China won the women’s 3-meter synchronized gold medal at the World Championships.
Chang and Chen left their opponents no chance at all in the competition, leading in every one of the five dives. In the end, the two secured the title with 341.94 points.
The Chinese pair not only defended the gold medals after winning them in Budapest one year ago but also booked their spots for the event at the Paris Olympics in 2024.
Scarlett Mew Jensen and Yasmin Harper of British clinched the silver medal with 296.58 points. Chiara Pellacani and Elena Bertocchi of Italy got the bronze with 285.99 points.
